Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how you can exercise your rights under Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act (個人資料保護法). It is written to cover the notice items required by Article 8 of that Act.

📋 What we collect

We collect only what is needed to do the thing you asked us to do:

• At checkout: your name, mobile number, email (optional), the convenience store you chose for pickup, and what you ordered.
• Newsletter: your email address.
• Back-in-stock alerts: your email address and the product you want.
• Reviews: the display name and review text you write.
• Claw game: your IP address, used only to stop the same person claiming the discount repeatedly.
• Browsing: server logs record IP addresses and pages requested.

We never see your card number. Card payments are handled by ECPay on their own page. The number does not pass through this site and is not stored in our database.

🎯 Why we collect it

• To process, ship and support your order, including returns.
• To send the newsletter or a back-in-stock alert, when you asked for one.
• To show approved product reviews on the site.
• To keep the site working, for example preventing repeat claims on a discount.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to anyone, and we do not use it for anything beyond the purposes above.

🤝 Who we share it with

Only what an order actually requires, and only with:

• ECPay, for payment and convenience store logistics. The name, phone number and pickup store needed to create a shipping label go to ECPay, who pass them to the store chain.
• 7-ELEVEN or FamilyMart, the pickup location you chose, for delivery and collection notices.
• Our email provider, to deliver order confirmations and shipping notices.

Site analytics are self-hosted. That data stays on our own server and is not sent to a third-party analytics service.

🍪 Cookies

No advertising or tracking cookies. We use only what keeps the site working: your cart contents, your language choice, and the once-a-day limit on the claw game.

🗄️ How long we keep it, and where

Order records are kept for accounting and after-sales support. Newsletter and back-in-stock addresses are kept until you ask us to remove them. Server logs are kept for about 90 days. Your data is stored on our server in Taiwan.

⚖️ Your rights

Under Article 3 of the Personal Data Protection Act you may ask us at any time to:

• review the personal data we hold about you
• provide you with a copy
• supplement or correct it
• stop collecting, processing or using it
• delete it

Email info@thetaiwanshop.tw and we will deal with it within a reasonable time. Newsletter emails also carry a one-click unsubscribe link.

One thing worth knowing: if you ask us to delete the data attached to an order, we can no longer help you with tracking, returns or support for that order.

🙋 What happens if you do not provide it

Providing personal data is your choice. But your name, phone number and pickup store are required for convenience store delivery, so without them we cannot create a shipping label and the order cannot be completed.
